Scientific interests:

  • Modern tools in medicinal chemistry
  • Bioorganic chemistry
  • Therapies of neurodegenerative diseases

Teaching:

Laboratory of Organic Chemistry for students of Biology Department

Proposed bachelor’s projects:

  • Synthesis of new tetrahydroisoquinoline derivative – a potential ligand of cholinesterases
  • „Target-guided synthesis” – modern tool in medicinal chemistry
  • Fluorescent labeling of melatonin using “click” reaction

Projects:

“Butyrylcholinesterase as a matrix for the synthesis of its own inhibitors” – MINIATURA grant, National Science Centre, Poland

We are working on a proof that butyrylcholinesterase, which is an important enzyme in the neurodegenerative processes, is able to synthesize its own inhibitors, selecting pairs of building blocks, which form together the best final ligands.
